Meet Our Team

Dr. William Carlson graduated from Washington State University with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1994 before going on to complete an Internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at South Shore Veterinary Associates in 1995.

Dr. Carlson has decades of experience in veterinary healthcare from his years of general practice in Tucson, AZ, Farmington, CT, and Atlanta, GA.

In 2010, Dr. Carlson became the sole proprietor of Intown Animal Hospital. Years of high-quality care and service rewarded Intown Animal Hospital with a clientele larger than what the original practice was capable of providing; this prompted the opening of our 2nd location at the Midtown Promenade in February 2023.

Dr. Carlson has a passion for providing lifelong care to his patients and building lasting relationships with their owners.

Dr. Katherine White was born and raised in Memphis, TN. She spent eight years in Starkville, MS, obtaining her B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.

After graduating from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2021, Katherine moved to Midtown Atlanta with her husband and dog, Haldir.

Dr. White has a passion for preventative medicine and public health, and she exercises these passions every day by discussing the importance of vaccinations, preventatives, and managing chronic conditions. Dr. White also enjoys counseling owners through quality-of-life discussions and care.

Since the start of 2023, Dr. White has deeply cherished being part of the team at Intown Animal Hospital. Outside of the hospital, she loves to spend time outdoors with her family and community, loving adventures big and small.

Dr. Jo Wellman is a graduate of the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine and has been practicing veterinary medicine for 18 years. She loves getting to know each patient and taking the time to understand their unique needs. She is passionate about educating clients to make informed decisions and is committed to providing the highest quality vet care, advocating for every patient, and building relationships with both the pet and the owners.

In her free time, she likes to travel, read books (mainly fiction), spend time with her friends and family, eat good food, and cat-nap when she gets a chance (not necessarily in that order!).

Dr. DiCarlo is a Fear Free Certified Practitioner and is skilled in medical, dental, and surgical care, as well as emergency and critical care medicine. He values compassionate, communicative partnerships with pet owners and enjoys helping clients understand their options, so every pet receives thoughtful, individualized care.

Outside of work, Dr. DiCarlo enjoys playing music with friends, cooking at home, tinkering with old cars, and birdwatching. He also loves unwinding on walks with his dogs

Dr. Lauren O’Connor is a 2009 graduate of the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine and is USDA-accredited. With over 15 years of experience in various veterinary settings across California, Ohio, Illinois, and soon Georgia, she has served as a sole veterinarian in small clinics, provided relief work in a major metropolitan area, and co-managed a growing team of veterinarians as a co-medical director. Dr. O’Connor has a passion for senior pet care, especially aging felines, and is dedicated to staying current with continuing education and innovations in the veterinary field. She holds a Cat Friendly certificate from the AAFP and is a strong proponent of Fear-Free practices.

Dr. Whitney Hale graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2015, where she excelled in her studies and developed a strong foundation in veterinary medicine. With a warm and compassionate approach, Dr. Hale is committed to ensuring the health and well-being of her patients. Her special interests lie in soft tissue surgery and preventive medicine, areas where she continually seeks to expand her knowledge and skills to deliver the best possible outcomes for her furry patients.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Dr. Hale shares her home with her husband, Donnie, and three beloved cats, Butterscotch, Waffles, and Bagel. Her personal experience as a pet owner fuels her empathy and understanding of the bond between pets and their human companions.

Dr. Hale is dedicated to fostering open communication with pet owners, empowering them to make informed decisions about their pets’ healthcare. Whether performing surgeries, conducting routine check-ups, or offering guidance on preventative care measures, Dr. Hale approaches each interaction with kindness, expertise, and a genuine love for animals.

In her free time, Dr. Hale enjoys traveling, spending quality time with friends and family, and spending time outdoors trying new adventures.

Marquetta is an Atlanta Native and a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. She served in the hospitality industry for over 15 years before her transition into Veterinary Medicine. Marquetta has been with Intown Animal Hospital since 2016, quickly becoming a favorite of the entire staff, patients, and clients who love them. Providing quality and compassionate customer service to all Intown’s patients and clients has always been Marquetta’s top priority, and where she shines. In her free time, Marquetta enjoys spending time with her family (three children, her precious grandson, and fur baby Gidget) and friends.
